Q:  What kind of Counseling Clinic are you?  

Our Clinic provides short-term, change-oriented therapy for individuals, couples, and families experiencing a variety of challenges that cause some degree of distress or dissatisfaction in their life.

Q:  What kind of therapy do you do?

Our short-term, collaborative, solution-based therapy involves helping you to first better understand what it is that is challenging you, and then guiding you toward change in order to feel more confident that you can deal with your life situation with less stress and a sense of possibility for more satisfaction.  We do this by using approaches associated with Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT),  Mindfulness Therapy, and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). In short, we teach you to objectively and mindfully look at and understand your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and values, so you can then develop more effective ways of dealing with what life throws at you in order to live the life that is most meaningful and significant to you.  A combination of these types of therapy, with an emphasis on CBT is considered to be among the most rapid in terms of results obtained, requiring fewer sessions and therefore, less expense.

Q:  What kind of challenges do you help with?  
People seek counseling for various reasons.  Some of the common reasons are:  Feelings of anxiety, excessive worry, or compulsive habits; Prolonged feelings of loneliness, depression, hopelessness; Distress over marital, relationship, or family relationships; Concerns about a child’s behavior or adjustment; Teen issues; Handling life transitions such as college, empty nest, retirement, death. We provide help for all of these challenges, with a specialized emphasis on challenges associated with Anxiety Disorders, such as OCD, Social Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Chronic Worry, etc.                           

Q:  What are your fees and do you take insurance?

Our fees for therapy are reasonable and affordable and vary depending on the specific professional service you are seeking – call us for a fee quote.  We are generally a “pay in full at the time of service” Clinic, although we do work with certain PPO out-of-network insurance carriers and would be happy to help you determine if your plan allows our Clinic to directly bill for services provided and accept co-payments only.  Payment for counseling, cash, check, or credit card, is due at the time of your scheduled visit.

Q:  How often and how long will I be in therapy?

Our type of therapy is short-term, action and solution-focused, which generally means that we see our clients once weekly until progress begins to occur, at which time sessions are scheduled less frequently across months until you feel your goals have been met and your challenges have stabilized.  More frequent and lengthier therapy is indicated for issues such as OCD, chronic depression, etc. In general, most of our patients are seen within 12-16 sessions.
